For a few years I have lived in a 13m square apartment in the heart of the 5th district (frenchly known as “arrondissement”), in Paris. I went there to launch my photographic career and let me tell you that the city is a blast for photographers, and not just because of the cityscape (the roofs!), or the fashion week. The French capital has numerous addresses - most of them close to each other - that are essential if you’re going to be a photographer in Paris, even just for a day. First and foremost, the Boulevard Beaumarchais in the 11th district is THE place for second hand and new equipment shops.
Ar Vro Bagan has been around for many years, using History to create free epic outdoor plays that tells over 2,000 years of Breton history, each year being different, but very much like Kynren in England. This summer, the cast set out to Meneham, a small village on the north coast of Brittany.
Last week-end I was extremely honoured to shoot the talented actor Arnaud de Montlivault on top of the “mont Saint-Michel”, literally Saint-Michael’s mount. To me it was an incredible oppportunity to work on both the portraiture and the historical side of my photography.
Here is a list of 5 adventure and/or travel books that have changed my relationship with stepping forward out of my comfort zone. If you have any other suggestion or would like to share something that has great meaning to you, please leave a comment bellow.
