When you hire me for your portrait session, you are hiring a photographer that has expertise in working with actors, authors, musicians, artists and businesses in general. I have vast experience to help you look your best, feel your best and create your timeless portraits. When you hire me, I try to make more than remarkable images, I try to give you an enjoyable and memorable experience. For you to enjoy this process I have outlined the portrait photographic experience timeline and what you can expect before, during and after your photoshoot.

The portrait experience

  • Concept Development

We will begin with an email or a phone call to decide the overall goal and direction of your photoshoot, and eventually move to a meeting, when possible, to help outline your session in more detail, including the collection pricing that will best fit your needs. Each experience is unique. We will develop a concept and bring that concept to life with you or your client as the main character. If you don't quite have a vision for your photoshoot, not to worry: I will work with you to help build one. I want to capture you for all time, how would you love to be photographed? Getting to know a bit about you will really get me to help you in the concept development process. I'll ask you a series of questions to figure out what you love, which visuals you are attracted to, understand the purposes of the shoot, and more. Remember, you are perfect now.

  • Creative Team

Hair, make-up and styling. The wardrobe may be an important element of your shoot depending on the concept. We will discuss which elements you can provide, which elements we can rent, and if it is appropriate to hire a professional fashion stylist to take your look to the next level. I will provide you a list of potential resources to acquire the wanted looks. Depending on your needs, we will decide wether it is best to hire professional hair and make-up artists. Professional hair and make-up will help you feel your absolute best on a shoot. Styling may help you feel more confident, to help you shine in front of the camera.

  • Pre-Production

A moodboard is a collection of images (or a board) that help define the direction of the shoot. It helps us, photographers and artistic directors figuring out the styling, lighting and how the shoot feels. We will build a moodboard to guide the shoot and define the vision for the entire creative team. We will also discuss the desired colour palette for your shoot: perhaps there are certain colours associated with your brand? Maybe you wish to match the colours in your films? Maybe there is a certain colour that you are drawn to?

  • Preparation

Once we have established the goals and final details for our shoot, I will gather my creative team and the elements needed to bring your portraiture to life. I will provide you a checklist of anything you need to bring on the day of the shoot as well as a call sheet (day's schedule) outlining the day's events, locations, creative teams and more. Typically you will need to bring shoes that fit your looks and others that are comfortable. If you need to bring clothing, we will work together to decide ideal looks. If we are working with a professional stylist, I will provide you a worksheet to fill out your measurements so they can acquire pieces perfect for you.

  • Production day

On the day of the shoot, you will want to arrive rested and ready to create stunning images. No need to be anxious, I will walk you through the entire process. There are two essential things we focus on for the shoot day: your comfort and creating beautiful art. If there is anything you need, just ask. The day will begin with going over your moodboard to reaffirm the direction of the shoot. You will meet your creative team (hair, makeup, wardrobe, etc) and take a look at any other elements that have been prepared for the shoot. Then, if included during the concept development, you will begin your hair and makeup. We will listen to music of your choice (you are welcome to come prepared with some ideas that fit the vibe you are going for). Typically we start with a more natural look first, and then build to anything more dramatic. A photo shoot typically ranges between 2-6 hours from start to finish, but it can take the whole day depending on the production and I recommend starting a bit earlier in the day. Hair and makeup will take a while, so you will have plenty of time to wake up if you are not a morning person. Usually, if the shoot is inside a studio, we will take a look at the images we have been creating to get your feedback, preferences.

  • Post-Production & Reveal

After the shoot, you will be provided with an online gallery featuring at least 60 of the best captures from the day. I will personally suggest some of my favourite images based upon my professional experiences, but also welcome you to select the photographs that really make a difference to you. Once your images have been selected, I will professionally retouch them and colour grade them to achieve the desired mood. This process can take up to two weeks. Photographs can be delivered as digital files but are also available in a full range of fine art prints and products available. I'm happy to help you in the image selection processes as to how your images should be printed and revealed to the public.
